Beta Testing Terms

Beta Software
PreSpin is beta software under active development. It may contain bugs, incomplete features, or unexpected behavior.
Back Up Your Library
Before using PreSpin, back up your music library. PreSpin modifies audio file metadata (ID3 tags, Serato cue points) and can export data to Rekordbox. While PreSpin includes a backup system with automatic snapshots and restore capabilities, these are not a substitute for your own backups.
What PreSpin May Modify
- Audio file tags: BPM, key, energy, comments, grouping, and other ID3 metadata
- Serato cue points: Hot cue positions, colors, and labels (written via GEOB tags in audio files)
- PreSpin analysis data: A custom ID3 tag storing analysis results
- File names: Optional rename based on artist/title template
- Rekordbox export: When exporting to USB, PreSpin writes to the export directory structure
See What PreSpin Does to Your Files for complete details.
Recovery Options
PreSpin creates automatic backups before modifying any file:
- First-touch vault: A snapshot of the original file before PreSpin ever touches it
- Session backups: A .bak copy before each processing session
- Restore function: Available in the app to revert files to their pre-PreSpin state
These backups provide a safety net but are not a warranty against all possible data loss scenarios.
PreSpin Cloud Backup (Optional Beta Feature)
PreSpin Cloud Backup is an opt-in beta feature: an encrypted copy of your library, playlists, and On Deck lists in PreSpin's hosted storage. It is off until you choose to set it up and available only to accounts the PreSpin team has enabled. Quota limits apply and may change during the beta period. The full data-handling description, including what is encrypted and what we can and cannot recover for you, lives in our Privacy Policy.
Cloud Backup is a convenience, not a warranty. You remain responsible for keeping your own backups (an external drive, Time Machine, or another off-site backup) as your primary safety net. We provide Cloud Backup as a recovery path; we do not warrant it as a sole backup.
Compelled recovery. If you choose the default “Recovery Code or Password” mode, PreSpin stores an extra account-password-protected copy of your encryption key on its servers. PreSpin never stores your password. If PreSpin is presented with a lawful order and your account password is also lawfully obtained, an operator can use the password to unwrap that copy and recover your backup. PreSpin cannot do this with the order alone — the password is required, and we never have it. Choose “Recovery code only” mode at setup to keep no server-side copy at all; vault-mode backups are outside this surface entirely.
Share codes. A share code restores one playlist or On Deck list backup, protected by a password you set. Codes are rate-limited, password-protected, and expire on a schedule you choose. Reports of abusive share codes or other Cloud Backup misuse should go to [email protected].
No Warranty
PreSpin is provided “as is” during the beta testing period. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the software's fitness for any particular purpose, reliability, or accuracy. We are not liable for any data loss, file corruption, or other damages arising from the use of this beta software. The no-warranty language above applies to PreSpin Cloud Backup as well as to the rest of the app.
